Equipment & Software
We use state of the art equipment and software to complete our projects
proficiently to save our clients time and money.
- Topcon AP-L1A Robotic Total Station
-
The Total Station, which consolidates precise angular and
distance measurement into a single compact instrument, has been the
industry standard since the late 1980's. The next step in the evolution
of survey instruments is the Robotic Total Station, which allows for
remote control of all instrument functions through a radio link.
Measurement data is transmitted to the data collector (see below) via the radio for
storage.

-
With robotic capabilities, one man can match, or exceed the
productivity of a conventional two or even three man survey crew.
Conventionally, the least trained crew member often manned the "rod",
collecting the survey data. In Bristol, Sweet & Associates' one-man
field crew with the robotic instrument, all information is gathered by a
licensed land surveyor. We were one of the first in the state to utilize
this new technology, having been the first in New Hampshire to purchase
a Topcon AP-L1A Robotic Total Station in March of 1999.

- TDS Ranger Electronic Data Collector
-
This is a small, rugged, handheld computer (running on a DOS
platform) containing software that electronically records all
measurement data, thereby eliminating transcription errors, and
increasing the efficiency of the field crew. The data is downloaded
directly into the office computers, saving still more time. The software
allows complex mathematical processing to be performed in the
field, and provides many routines to aid in operations such as setting
lot corners, staking out roads and establishing horizontal and vertical
survey control points. Control of the Robotic Total Station
is integrated with all these functions.
-
- AutoCAD, Version 14 & Softdesk, Version
8
-
AutoCAD is a computer aided drawing/drafting program.
Softdesk is a surveying, and civil engineering
program running within AutoCAD. These programs are the industry
standard. We began running AutoCAD in 1985 and have customized AutoCAD &
Softdesk, writing programs to run them more efficiently for us.
Softdesk allows for the electronically stored field notebooks to be downloaded from
the data collector directly to AutoCAD, thus eliminating transcription errors,
and increasing efficiency.
